The Health and Safety Committee of the Scottish Police Federation (SPF) is currently reviewing our members Personal Protective Equipment.
This review has been brought about by a number of factors including the increased threat level and ongoing concerns over the general level of violence being presented to our members. It builds on the highly commended discussion at the SPF Biennial Conference on protecting officers and develops some local survey work, most notably in G Division.
This evidence based review will consider currently held data, professional opinion, different international models, technological options and most importantly the views of officers.
To this end I would urge you to take part in the following survey at www.spf.org.uk/ppe.
It will take only a couple of minutes to complete on a PC, tablet or smartphone and full responses will be available to SPF only. The request for an email address is only for validation purposes and will not be part of the data set considered. Every care will be taken to keep responses unidentifiable.
I look forward to your participation and would encourage you to share this link with your PSoS colleagues. The Survey will close on Thursday 20th July 2017 at 0700hrs.
[Note: Until Police Scotland fully upgrades its PCs, officers still using the Windows XP operating system at sites in A, D, E and J Divisions will need to use the Chrome or Firefox browsers (if installed). Internet Explorer on these old systems will not load the survey. The survey is however smartphone and tablet friendly and so can be completed on these devices. All upgraded PCs should work without any issue.]
