Psychosocial maturation describes the process of the development of attributes that optimise personal growth and socialisation. Psychosocial immaturity is strongly related to youth and criminality, while psychosocial maturity is associated with desistance from crime. This research describes the development and validation of a psychosocial maturity screening tool for young adult men (18+) convicted of crime, in order to better understand the needs of this group and to improve targeting and provision of services.
