2017 has been another very challenging year for policing in Scotland.

However, throughout it all, men and women of Police Scotland have continued to go out there and work to deliver the best service possible for the communities that they serve.

And they continue to do so over Christmas and Hogmanay, not with many not being with their own families to ensure that our communities and their families are all safe over this festive period.

Policing in general in the UK has had a difficult year, with us having some terrible incidents and some terrible tragedies within the policing family.

Police Scotland have also lost officers this year, so to all the friends and families of these officers we’d like to say that they’re in our thoughts at this difficult time of year.

The Scottish Police Federation look forward to the challenges of 2018 and what 2018 brings, and hopefully it’ll be a less challenging year for policing in Scotland.

We wish all of our police officers, police staff and their families, a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy Hogmanay.
