Wellbeing is not a tick box, it’s a thing. Our Wellbeing can be impacted on by pressures both in and out of work. You are not alone.
The recent Wellbeing Conference at the SPC produced a number of quotes that officers should take cognisance of, below is just a small selection;
DCC Livingstone – We did undoubtedly took our eye off the ball, but we are doing something about it now.
Police Mutual – Police Officers are not immune to financial pressures they are the 3rd biggest users of Pay day Loans
Police Treatment Centres – 1 in 3 attendees at the PT Centres are Mental Health Referrals
Optima – 24% of management referrals are for Mental Health and Stress related conditions
Michael Matheson MSP – Empowering Managers and engraining Wellbeing in the DNA is key for him
The key for me is to ensure we all get it, in particular supervisors, we all have an important role to play in signposting support and sometimes just listening.
This is obviously the picture across Scotland and will no doubt be the case for North Area too. The support is there and can be accessed through the various Wellbeing Managers, your supervisors or any one of the Federation Reps.
REMINDER OF PAY AGREEMENT 2017/03
Most of the items which were agreed at the most recent pay negotiations have come into being, however this is a reminder of a couple coming into force on the 1st of April 2018;
- Police officers may nominate two days, in place of Christmas Day and New Year’s
Day as public holidays for religious or cultural reasons from 1 April 2018;
- Where there is a requirement to work on a rest day during a period of annual leave,
that rest day (or subsequent rest days if similarly worked) will be compensated in the
same way as if the requirement to work were on a day of annual leave. A qualifying
period of leave shall be defined as a period of 4 days or more, at least one of which
is a day of annual leave and the remaining days being rest days, public holidays or
days taken as time off in lieu of overtime. These changes will take effect from 1 April
