Police praise new mobile equipment rolled out to north-east officers
Police have praised new technology rolled out across the force for helping officers provide a more “efficient” service to north-east communities. The new mobile devices have been handed out to police across the north-east so they can access the computer system while working out of the office. Officers can now take statements on an electronic notebook which can be signed by victims and witnesses with a stylus pen.
Dumbarton’s MP has urged “fresh thinking” on drug policy after it emerged 20 people were killed by narcotics last year. The statistics, released by the National Records of Scotland, showed a rise from 15 to 20 between 2017 and 2018 in West Dunbartonshire. The figures caused outcry across the country, and Martin Docherty-Hughes MP has called for a re-think. Although campaigners have pushed the idea of decriminalisation, politicians – including Mr Docherty-Hughes – have stopped short of endorsing the move.
