Study of procedural justice perceptions of prisoners and prison staff, and the relationship between these perceptions and outcomes.

Details

This research developed measures of prisoners’ and staff members’ procedural justice perceptions in English and Welsh prisons. Variation of perceptions across the prison estate and between different groups of staff and prisoners was examined. Additionally, the relationship between procedural justice perceptions and a number of outcomes was tested, including prisoner assaults, disorder and wellbeing, and staff rehabilitative orientation, stress and sickness absence.
